What Is an AFH?

A Licensed Home — Not a Large Facility

An Adult Family Home (AFH) is a licensed residential home that provides personal care, nursing services, and room and board for up to six adults. Unlike large nursing facilities, AFHs offer a small, intimate setting where staff can truly know each resident as an individual — their story, preferences, and daily rhythms.

Daily personal care assistance
Medication management
Smaller, quieter environment
Memory & dementia care
Nursing oversight & clinical care
Individualized attention

AFH vs. Large Nursing Facility

Many families aren't aware that an Adult Family Home offers a meaningful alternative to large nursing facilities — one that often provides more personalized, attentive care in a warmer, more residential setting.
